AND IN BLEW THE SUMMER WIND...
A grueling seven-day battle has afforded Totalcampo squads of all shapes and sizes a clearer idea of just where they stand as another summer season gets underway.
In the end, FC Bashtone and Chelsea would emerge pre-season finalists on the competitive side of things, edging out respective male and female finalists Inter Luce and Les Oranges. In recreational play, meanwhile, it was FC Overweight and FC Nonnas who ultimately won out as the May tournament came to a close.
Expect both the winners and the losers to continue to wreak havoc as they melt back into their respective Laval or all-new Anjou and RDP leagues this summer.

CRAZY AND STILL KICKING
Despite losing precious ground to their division rivals only weeks ago, Les Leones Locos haven’t thrown in the post-season towel just yet.
“Well, we definitely think we can still make the playoffs,” wrote captain Marcello Folco from his iPhone, the day after his squad achieved the near-impossible and beat out a red hot Atacama 6-5 to remain just one win shy of Spain’s sixth and final playoff spot.
POTG: It was a case of better-late-than-never for offensive weapon Jordan Lembo, proving himself a crucial playmaker for Les Leones despite showing up at the field for the second half.
Looking ahead: Cafe Mercedes will be looking to do both Les Leones and themselves a favour when they take on Spain Friday night at 7 on Field 1.

THE SHORT END OF THE STICK
FC Bashtone might be getting better with time, but the last month and a half hasn’t really solved one of their bigger division concerns.
In fact, the pre-season wonders fell to B3 Division leaders Milanello by the exact same 6-4 score line, temporarily losing grip of the third seed that would hypothetically allow them to avoid their bitter rivals until a possible championship match.
POTG: Gabriel Stante outgunned Bashtone’s Justin Beaudoin with three goals of his own to practically guarantee his Milanello a top regular season finish.
Looking ahead: FC 420 will need a huge win over the FC Jets Saturday night at 7 pm to avoid having their C4 season go up in smoke.

HITTING THEIR SEPTEMBER STRIDE
Another important test of character swung in VM FC’s favour in what is sure to be a fascinating C1 Division regular season wind-down.
“It was very tight and both teams had to make comebacks of their own,” explains Anthony Cimino, whose VM FC Crew ultimately held on to beat Ciociaros 7-4 and claim third spot in the C1 Division with three games left to play.
POTG: Andrew Priess temporarily grabbed the reigns in VM FC’s own internal scoring competition with a solid three-goal outing against Ciociaros.
Looking ahead: It’s crunch time as the Black Angels look to sneak into the FB playoffs with a win against the FC Diamonds Sunday night at 5:30 on Field 2.
