The dark days of December have sent a cold chill through San Marino.

“It was a close battle and we deserved a better fate,” explains captain Calvin Konya in a sullen email following a 2-1 loss to ESC. “We were down 2-0 at halftime but put together a dominant performance and carried the momentum throughout the entire second half. To go home with a loss considering how well we played is a tough pill to swallow.”

Nursing their third loss in December, San Marino now trade places with ESC and drop from second to third in the C1 Division – nullifying a six-game undefeated streak.

But Konya doesn’t see the shadows extending into spring. “We have a tremendous group of guys though and there is no doubt in my mind that we will bounce back with a strong finish to the season.
