LAVAL WOMEN – CAUGHT SLACKING OVERTIME
21 Nov

Whoever said running a soccer team is hard work is obviously taking their job way too seriously.

“We used to be called the Power Puffs but the Slackers was a more fitting term,” explains captain Amanda Loukatos smartly. “We are a lazy bunch, you see. We even had to play with no goalie gloves once! It’s the biggest issue we’re dealing with currently – to the point where we’ve developed this rule in which the last player to arrive to a game automatically must go in nets. You can just imagine how early everyone has been lately.”

Self-deprecation aside, even Loukatos can’t deny that the veteran Slackers are on to something good. Their latest 6-2 win over the Cheetos makes them perfect this winter. And the girls are gunning for no less than an undefeated season title.

“Most of us have been playing together for about eight years now, so there’s that level of connectivity. You know you can trust your teammates to be where they need to be and vice versa. We truly do have fun playing, even if it seems as though I’m simply reaffirming the sappy statement that every athlete in a team sport feels the need to say.”

POTG: “A player that deserves recognition would definitely have to be Victoria Zakar, leading as the top striker with nine goals thus far. It surely won’t end there for her.”
