ANJOU – THE GREAT NO-SHOW
27 Sep

They were supposed to face a fierce and ready opponent. But there was ultimately no sign of either.

“We were definitely expecting more of them,” wrote Pink Ladies captain Veronica Cappelletti in an email summing up the rather easy 5-1 championship win over second-seed Blitz – a squad that failed to follow through on their end-of-season promise.

“Everyone played amazing but I do have to say that Emilie De Luca gave us an early lead and was our top striker for the game.”

The rest of the Anjou finals were far more predictable. In FB1 action, Zone managed to take out long shot FC Touski with a narrow 3-2 win. Touski, it should be noted, did manage to oust division heads Southshore Vendetta in the semis after failing to beat them in three regular season attempts – definitely a giant relief to the equally challenged Pink Ladies.

And finally in the FC Division, the heavy favourites FC Rebelles stuck to the script with a hard fought 2-1 win over Blue Ice and, in doing so, managed to go through the entire season without losing a single game.
