Les bleus
LAVAL – NOTHING WITHOUT MY KEEPER
27 juin

They say there’s never a good time to have to go without your star goalie. That fact may have just cost Les Bleus their season.

“Last week’s loss against LPSC really hurt, which is why Wednesday’s win was so important,” explains captain David Garel following the aforementioned 5-2 revenge match against Atletico Madrid. “Without Georges-Philippe Gauthier – who’s definitely the best keeper in the league – we play with less confidence. With him, it would have been a different result altogether.”

Despite the consolation win, the fact remains that Les Bleus now trail
C2 Division leaders LPSC by a solid five points. With no regular games left between the two teams, Garel insists Gaulthier and company can now only handle their archrivals when it counts. “We’ll see them again in the finals!”

POTG: “Hoa Phong and I each scored twice,” adds Garel, insisting it was still a team win. “We’ve pretty much scored all of the team’s goals this season. Our chemistry can really hurt the other team.”
