LAVAL MEN – A BACK-TO-BACK TRIPLE TAKE
25 Mar

The archrivals in question don’t call it the B3 Classico for nothing.

“The first half was theirs,” declared Etna’s Arturo Prietro of the shaky start his squad was admittedly lucky to survive. “But the second half was completely ours. We scored twice and Eletto couldn’t find any clear chances – until about two minutes before the end of the game, when lefty Leo Incollingo’s perfect shot was astonishingly blocked by our goalie Massimo Rosato. That was just before we scored the backbreaking third goal.”

The 3-1 victory was a particularly savoury one for the defending champs, who captured the triple crown of pre-season, season and playoff glory.

Meanwhile in the C4 Final, the Chupacabras blazed out the starting gate and stood their ground when FC Armada raised the stakes on a decapitating blast of an equalizer from Jamal Sevojan early in the second. The boys in yellow responded with a couple of pretty goals, including the insurance strike by forward Tommy Lumia, to close out the championship 3-1.

Earlier in the week, Lex United 2 managed to hold off La Famiglia in a 2-1 C2 Championship nail-biter while underdog Monteuil United downed C3 heavyweights FK Ottoman 3-1.

POTG: Special mention to Orozen striker Mark Costandi, who collected seven goals as his sixth-seeded Orozen completely ripped through the C1 Division’s top three in a championship run of biblical proportions.
