LAVAL MEN – THE STRESS OF CHAMPIONS
21 mar.

If there was any of that pesky defending-champ pressure lurking, the Red Knights made sure to leave it in the dressing room.

“The game was wide open from the start,” recounts coach Claudio di Stefano of the run-and-gun 6-4 victory over rivals Homenetmen. “Winning the B1 and the Champions League in back to back nights means a big celebration is due. But we’re already debating if we should put in a summer team or not.”

Manchester United had kept things more defensive as they choked off second-seed Barcelona in the aforementioned 2-1 Champions League final – this after failing to lose a single regular season game.

Mystik FC, Etna and Bone for Tuna each took home their respective titles in B2, B3 and B4 Division championships that were largely expected. Of those, only Etna can bask in its own defending-champ glory.

POTG: “The turning point (against Homenetmen) came when defender Ricky Teoli burst down the wing and went past two defenders to give an easy tap in to Sean Rosa. It restored a two-goal lead and gave us the chance to control the tempo for the rest of the game.”
