The fact that Barca couldn’t get their heads into what was arguably their most important game of the season really explains their winter struggles perfectly.

“They were better prepared,” explained Barca’s Marc-Ameti Yepkle, insisting an inadequate warm up left his squad unable to dig their way out of an early three-goal hole against the young and speedy Ahuntsic. “After that we got into the game more seriously but it was a bit too late. A lack of concentration was the culprit in our (5-3) loss.”

With Rouge FC still in their statistical grasp, the seventh-seed Barca can take some comfort in knowing that their final chance at a playoff spot will come against Ashton Villa, a B1 opponent they did manage to tie several weeks back.

POTG: Sebastien Laurent has been Barca’s most consistent goal scorer and will likely be instrumental in the team’s season closer.
