LAVAL – MANIC AS A STATE OF MIND

They may just look like just another streaky team right now, but there is tons of method to Manic’s recent madness.

“Let’s just say we knew our opponents quite well and therefore prevented them from playing their game,” explains Manic coach Dominique Fricaud following his team’s 3-1 win over L’Express. “One specific strategy was to destabilize their defence by shooting on net as often as possible . Our strikers did exactly that and were rewarded with three goals.”

Fricaud believes his girls have really bought what the coach is selling: unflinching team play, ball possession, tight defence, structured counter-attacks and an ability to finish with authority. The stats don’t lie. The FB1 squad is currently riding a six-game winning streak and is only three points out of first.

POTG: “I have to congratulate the team in general but newcomer keeper Pamela Vafiadis more specifically. She came in and really gave us all a much-needed confidence boost.”
