CHAMPS - CHAMPAGNE, EVERYTHING

Fourth-seed Squadra FC posted consecutive 5-4 comeback wins over the top two teams in the B4 Division, paving their own sweet road to championship glory.

According to keeper and resident panelist John Khoury, Squadra FC were down 4-1 to Bonbon Rose with only ten minutes left in the semifinal when teammate Sandro Ricciuti “came up big” with three of four unanswered goals. A week later, his boys would only have 15 minutes left in a final against Real Betise to stage an almost identical comeback, this one engineered by Ismael Santilli and eventually sealed by Sacha Cantin’s OT winner and Tristan Resendes’ last-minute goal line clearance on an open-net attempt.

Over in the B1 Division, Compulsive Calcio came through by the skin of their teeth in a memorable 5-4 shootout win over SSC Forum, perhaps one of the premier championship matchups of the summer. And Tutto Bene put the exclamation point on a dominant B2 season with a 5-0 win over FC Parmigiano.

Panel favourites FC Barilla Pasta posted a solid 5-3 effort over Hunters FC to capture the C2 Division throne, while FC Furda Boyz accomplished what they couldn’t manage in their own regular season: beating C4 Division tough guys FC Gomorra into submission to capture the championship crown.

And last but never least, Artemide FC survived a last-minute Rossignols comeback to capture a narrow 3-2 championship-victory, the third for the young dynasty.
