SOME ROCK-SOLID RESOLVE
21 Jun

With no shiny stats to flash, the FC Diamonds are instead packing some newfound vision, determined not to trip on their heels come the grand playoff ball.

“I actually see a difference,” explains longtime captain Marilyn Sandri of her squad’s outlook for summer number eight in Totalcampo. “Our players are more focused and ready to face challenges. We still need to make some adjustments but I’m really confident about this season.”

Despite their best intentions, a season-opening 3-2 heartbreaker to current FC2 Division leaders Goal Diggers has set the tone for the Diamond’s lukewarm 2-2 start. But the addition of long lost striker Julie Lacasse (who’s already scored twice) is sure to provide a little extra offence for a team whose last championship came at the expense of current opponents FC Fire in Spring 2017, followed by tragic 2018 playoff campaigns.

Checkered past aside, Sandri’s expectations remain sky high. “There is not really one team this season that we fear for the playoffs,” she points out. “Summer 2019 is ours.”
