LAVAL WOMEN - HOW QUICKLY THEY GROW
12 déc.

They’re barely old enough to order a stiff drink to drown their soccer sorrows. And yet, only one week after getting schooled by mighty Blittz, the FSS crew just pulled off the biggest win of their young winter season.

“FC Inter Mtl, with one of the more potent offenses in the division, were ahead of us in the standings,” begins coach Sarah Prud’homme, setting the stage in dramatic fashion. “And I only had seven girls for the game. That meant they were going to have to work together from beginning to end, which they managed in impressive fashion.”

Captain Alexia Vitti would open the scoring with a header late in the first half, paving the way for a powerful Olivia Passarelli strike early in the second. Taking advantage of their opponent’s short bench, FC Inter Mtl would claw their way back and dial up the intensity, but the exhausted FSS would ultimately resist and nab the 2-1 win.

Now, with her youngsters rounding out the FC1 Division top three with only one loss in their first six games, Prud’homme cautions there’s still lots to learn. “Our goal this winter was to introduce the girls to the quick execution and physical nature of more senior squads, so that we could improve certain aspects of our individual and collective game. We’re pretty impressed with what we’ve been seeing so far.”
