LAVAL MEN - WHEN MUCH LOVE IS LOST
14 Aug

His team trailing heading into the second half, Marco Moretto was resigned to the possibility his LPSC were about to flunk out against FC Paesano.

Seven years in, it wouldn’t have been the first such disappointment.

“We knew we just had to work to get the next goal,” he explains. "Team leaders Anthony Oliveira and Jonathan Petosa stepped up big time and delivered the goals we needed, our defence became rock solid and another amazing performance from our keeper Eric Cordeiro helped ensure the win. By the end we finished on top 6-4.”

But then there was more at stake for the seven-year veterans than just the measly three points, the desire to remain neck and neck with division leaders TMT FC, or even regular talk of championship glory.

Instead, the tight knit squad’s legacy was put into stark perspective with the sudden and tragic passing of their good friend and former teammate Daniel Colletti this past week. Describing him as an integral piece of the LPSC puzzle between 2012 and 2014, Moretto was adamant that he be honoured accordingly.

“Daniel was known to be very kind and warm to his friends, as well as a fierce competitor on the field His loss is a tragic one, and he is someone that we will miss dearly.”
