BROSSARD - FOUR TO THE CUTTING FLOOR
06 Apr

If this truly was Arsenal’s championship to lose, it seems nobody sent underdog AS Futbol Club the memo.

The fourth-seeders jumped all over the undefeated A-Division leaders and took a commanding 2-0 lead. But AS Futbol Club would also squander countless opportunities to put the game out of reach, allowing Arsenal playoff ringer Guillaume Perez to tie the game up at 2-2 and force penalty shots, where no further miracles were to be had.

In the B1 Division championship, a pair of FC Dale Weise errors and Aldo Stephano Ramirez’ first half centreline blast through heavy traffic would prove to be the difference makers in an otherwise tight 2-1 championship win for top-seed Joga Bonito.

Things were far more clear-cut in the B2 Division, where an unlikely showdown between two long shots proved the old adage that the playoffs are a different beast altogether. Fourth-seed FC South Shore schooled the sixth-place Red Scouts, a team that arguably played their best soccer to defeat the dominant Pugz in the semis. Zakaria Friha and Qais Akbari each scored a pair in the impressive 6-2 victory.
