Having forfeited potential pre-season glory to watch an equally crucial Impact playoff game at Stade Saputo, AC Pirates are pretty much back where they ought to be.

The league vets and former Rosèmere champs got their 2016 regular season started right, piecing together a 5-4 victory over Citizens, the same opponent who would also lose to eventual tournament champs Europa FC. The Pirates win was followed up by a no-sweat 5-1 victory over winless FBRD Tuesday.

“We have a strong group of veterans,” explains head buccaneer Maxime Côté, who believes this year’s roster addition of Alexandre Allard will only boost his squad’s offensive fortunes. More difficult for the Laval C4A Division newcomers, however, might be figuring out just who the real teams to beat this winter are.
