LAVAL WOMEN - PLEASE MIND THE GAP
23 Sep

With a 19-point black hole hole standing between them and their pre-championship opponents, the undefeated Cougars might simply have been caught whistling past the graveyard.

“It was a long and painful game,” declared opposing captain Kelsy Rebelo following what was hands down Prime 2.0’s biggest accomplishment of the season, a grueling 6-4 win over the team they couldn’t solve in four encounters this summer. “We knew it was going to be tough. The key was to support each other and be patient on the field.”

Coach Kevin Lopes’ game plan seems to have worked wonders for his girls, who will now gear up for an FB1 championship showdown against a far more attainable Slackers side. “We are confident. With the players we have, we can beat anyone.”

Interestingly enough, this game was the only upset in the twelve semifinal matchups that took place in both female divisions.

POTG: Although she wasn’t officially credited on the game sheet, Joanie Juhasz gets the nod for scoring the goal that put Les Cougars’ season to rest.
