LAVAL MEN - THE START OF SOME UPSETTING TIMES
20 sept.

The BSC Young Boys fired off the first warning shot to all the fat cat division heads with big championship dreams.

“The game was crazy, haha!” declared Greg Caltabanis in the wake of his squad’s last-minute 1-0 win over AC Laval, a B4 Division rival that finished the regular season with 17 more points than they did. “I felt we controlled it from start to finish but it could have gone either way.”

But rather than going either way, the BSC Young Boys’ defenders starved their biggest rivals of any quality scoring chances and ultimately stole the quarterfinal win on a Chris Pololos free kick – the last play of the game. “The win gives us confidence to beat the Gunners, a team we haven’t beaten but have played close games against.”

In other Laval playoff upset news, sixth-seed KG Mtl doubled up on San Marino 6-3 to advance to the C1 semifinal, while Brazil pulled off a feat of equal proportions in the C4 Division with a 7-3 win over the Citizens.
