LAVAL WOMEN - SITTING ON A WINNING FORMULA
14 fév.

AS Espigoule are no strangers to winning. The group is, however, experienced enough to approach their rookie Totalcampo season with patience and humility.

“This week, it was a pleasure to face a team that, for me, is the best in the league,” declares coach Mathieu Pin on his squad’s triumphant 3-0 win against FC Olympic, their first in three attempts this season. In an eloquent email, Pin goes on to praise his girls for perfectly executing his strategy of clogging the middle while exploiting the wings to outnumber their defenders on the counterattack. “That ultimately put Melanie Sasseville in a better position to shoot and to finally beat the keeper.”

For the coach, it’s obvious that the process is just as important as the win. And now that Espigoule seem to have found their happy place in an equally competitive division where only six points separate the top four teams, Pin can’t help but see better days ahead for his first-year dynasty-in-the-making.

“I think Les Oranges will really want to beat us because we are the favourites. The plan will be to build on our success while adding that playoff determination and intensity. I can’t wait to see how my girls respond to the pressure of elimination.”

POTG: “I’d say my captain Rosalie Morin Levesque has managed to rally her troops. The Sasseville sisters are really strong tactically and technically. And Benedicte Audifax, who not only leads the team in scoring but the league as well, deserves a special mention!”
