LAVAL MEN - THE CASE OF LAST GOAL WINS
04 oct.

On a toe-numbing Thursday night, the last thing anyone would have wanted was a tit-for-tat finale that dragged into the wee hours.

But regular season heavyweights Zeus seemed to have an immediate answer to every Etna go-ahead goal in the second half, twice erasing one-goal deficits before striker Jonathan Klironomos pranced in alone from the right side of the crease and sneaked one in short side using the outside of his foot for his third of the night and the eventual 4-3 championship winner.

“We are now called FC Jonathan!” declared one Etna teammate. According to Arturo Prieto, Etna were destined for disaster after shedding many of their veterans and going 0-6-1 to start the season – an unacceptable fate following back-to-back winter championships. “The team got back together, mixing the speed and talent from the young guys with the experience and cleverness from the old guys.” It’s a clear example that in both soccer and life, it’s all about the perfect balance of body and mind!"

In other finals, B4 champions FC Bashtone deserve special mention after putting together a beautiful display of soccer to blow past Boavista 4-1 in their final the night before.

On Friday, Ibericos C.F. came out on the winning end of a 4-3 decision against LPSC in penalty shots – a C3 final that few would have predicted. And Orozen took care of business with a 6-0 win over Nation to win their second championship in as many years.
