ST. LEONARD - A BURGEONING AGE-OLD RIVALRY
25 août

Undefeated since the Summer Solstice, the FC Bricks should be forgiven for believing this is the year they finally win it all.

“We started off with a 1-3 record and knew solutions would have to be found, so we changed formation," explains Jad El-Chamy, manager of the squad. "One of our guys even started wearing pink socks as a superstition. We haven’t looked back since.”

But it would seem this unstoppable force finally met an immovable object.

And so the FC Brick’s nine-game streak came to a screeching halt this week as the undefeated C1 Division legends Camvi handed the youngsters a stinging 6-4 loss. More than the end of a killer run, it’s the memory of last years’ 2-1 championship ousting which remains particularly fresh.

“We feel Camvi is our biggest threat right now and so we aren’t really worried about anyone else. They seem to add players to their roster during the playoffs, so we know what to expect this year when we play them."

POTG: Jean-Francois Gonzales Cruz and Serge Rodriguez have shared sniping duties for the Bricks all season long on one of the more potent and balanced offensive rosters in the league.
