Cougars
ANJOU - LATE SUMMER CATCALL
24 août

It may be the dog days of August but the Cougars are still very much on the prowl.

In fact, a solid 5-1 win over the Benchwarmers this weekend has allowed the Cougars to take over 2nd place in the FC Division, though they remain a massive nine points shy of top dog Blitzz.

“We didn’t like our chances going into this one,” recounts team captain Brigitte Nardella. “We lost a close one to Benchwarmers the last time we played and we only had seven players in torrid conditions this time around. To make matters worse, we gave up an early goal on a defensive miscue. But then we buckled down and worked our way back.”

After a so-so start to the season, Nardella believes it’s an auspicious time for her Cougars to be rounding into shape, especially with the playoffs just around the corner. “This was a really good team effort and we’ll need lots of those if we hope to make a deep run.”

POTG: “Mélanie Gravel scored two picture-perfect goals, then switched up with the goalie and made some key saves in nets to preserve the lead.”
