BROSSARD - GNAWING AT THEIR ACHILLES HEEL
05 May

In the end, credit les Piranhas de l’ETS for tightening the offensive screws on one of the division’s most offensively challenged favourites.

“Before the game ever started, the plan was to keep FC Select real far from our net,” explains Alexandre Richard, whose squad obviously hit the strategic jackpot with a 2-0 shutout win over FC Select. “That sustained pressure all game long is what provoked their defensive errors and gave us some quality possession.”

Eager to get every last player on his roster in on the praise, Richard did single out keeper Jhojan Congote for three key saves early in the second half; his veterans for selling the rookies on team spirit and the coaching staff for bringing the team to another level this season.

In the C Division final, meanwhile, Fardoos Mehri and his Sabbah Jr. just pulverized unlikely finalists Les Bleus in a one-sided 5-0 affair. The seventh-seed underdogs deserve much credit for taking out second-seed Once Amigos and fourth-seed FC Estiqhlal before simply running out of gas.

POTG: But back to the Piranhas. “Romain Lissardy created some beautiful offensive plays and provoked a number of turnovers with his brilliant reading of the play. He also scored both goals!”
