LAVAL MEN – THE KEEPER WITH THE GOLDEN BOOT
30 Mar

The former University of Montreal Carabins crew knew they had the talent and chemistry to win it all.

But nobody was banking on forward-turned-keeper Vincent Debruille becoming the offensive hero in Les Bleus’s 3-1 championship triumph over B1 top dog Mystik FC. “He was the one who took the free kick in the second half and scored the winning goal,” explained captain Nawar Hanna, the team’s leading scorer the regular season. “So that was pretty awesome.”

The rest of the Laval finals were far less remarkable – at least as far as expected outcomes were concerned.

Despite dialing down expectations mid-season, Zeus managed Tutto Per Uno just fine with a 5-3 victory in the B2 finals. In the B3, Eletto Sports were 4-2 winners over fourth-seed finalists AS Espigoule 2. And FDA Standa 2 just scraped past B4 toughs FC Nomade 3-2 to hand that squad their first official loss of the season.

ESC continued their season-long domination of FC Minestrone with a 2-1 win in the C1 final; ditto for Real United, who beat runner-up SS Mischiate to capture the C2 crown.
