BROSSARD – WATCH OUT FOR PIRANHAS, PIRANHAS
20 mar.

The playoff hungry Piranhas got a taste of their own bite-size medicine.

Avenging a season-opening 3-1 loss with a 2-1 win thirteen games later, FC Garrincha managed to put Piranhas de l’ETS’ playoff drive into a slight tailspin. Riding a five-game winning streak, they are looking more and more like serious B Division championship material.

“We had a bad start because we were too confident,” explains captain Chris Guerrero, who believes a pre-season hot streak only brought with it “extra pressure to succeed in this league. We had to come back to basic football: tiki-taka, tight defending and, above all, lots of heart. That’s our football and that’s how we succeeded in previous seasons.”

One win shy of current top-seed Sabbah – a team they recently beat – FC Garrincha will look to end the season with a bang against the two weakest teams in their division.

POTG: Daniel Mendez had his fifth goal in four games and will continue to support a Garrincha offence that might just be the most balanced in the league.
