Manic
LAVAL MEN – THE BEARERS OF MENTAL COLLAPSE
14 Mar

After stunning the Red Stars in the quarterfinals, Manic nearly made some playoff depressives out of top dog Zeus.

“We finally had our full roster and managed a couple of wins to get into the playoffs at the last game,” recounts Mathieu Laroche. “We knew everything was possible when we beat the (third seed) Red Stars. I just wish we would have had our keeper for that last game – could have made the difference between a win or the loss in penalty shots!”

Of course, a 5-4 penalty-shootout loss to a team that dominated the B2 Division is nothing to sneer at, considering that same Zeus squad went on to defeat Tutto Per Uno 5-3 to capture the championship. It only proves that the toughest competition often comes from those with the least to lose.

POTG: Manic forward Hugo O’Doherty had 20 goals in his last seven games and is without a doubt the single biggest reason Manic were able to defy the odds they did.
