Benchwarmers
LAVAL WOMEN – BRUISED, BATTERED AND DETERMINED
04 Mar

The Benchwarmers’ long and winding playoff road got off to a bumpy start, to put it mildly.

“It was a tough game and an even tougher second half,” explains an admittedly diplomatic Cynthia Donato following a 2-0 win over the seventh-seed B-Liners. “We had two players leave the field on wheelchairs. Despite this, we played our game and kept our cool.”

Bolstered by a relatively healthy roster, the Benchwarmers will now face top-seed FC Boisbriand (a team that doubled their regular season point total) in the quarterfinals. Good thing Donato and friends aren’t too hung up on status and statistics. “Our main goal is to stay focused, play as a team and play our game regardless of how the other team is playing.”

POTG: Donato got the game-winning goal but isn’t making too much of it. “We all pulled together and played as a team. There was some great play making and passing going on.”
